How is diabetes caused?
The causes of diabetes factors

How is diabetes caused is a question that have baffled medical scientist for a number of years now.

No one seems to know for certain the answer to this question but there are a number of factors that could leads to the onset of diabetes mellitus.

Main Causes of Diabetes risk factors:

Heredity must be a factor as diabetes seems to be inherited.

It tends to run in families from one generation to the other. If parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles suffer from this disease there is a great risk that you would suffer from it also.

Diets also plays a role as eating too much carbohydrates, fats and proteins tends to harm the body. It is essential to eat a balance diet as too much of the wrong kind of food causes the pancreas to overwork or work in a sporadic fashion.

Excessive body weight (Obesity) in relation to height may cause the body to be insulin resistant. The more insulin resistant the higher the blood sugar above normal levels (hyperglycaemia) which may lead to pre diabetes or diabetes mellitus type2.

Age seems to be a factor in the cause of diabetes as there tends to be an onset of diabetes at ages over 40. However, the African, Asian and Caribbean population tend to suffer at much younger ages.

Auto immune reaction may also cause the immune system to attack the beta cells in the pancreas. The destruction of these beta cells could lead to the onset of diabetes type one.

Before diabetes type2 is diagnosed there tend to be a number of years of pre diabetes symptoms where the blood sugar levels are higher than normal.

However, diabetes can be prevented if caught in the pre diabetes period.

As no one know how is diabetes caused it is important that you try to reduce the factors that puts you at risk.
